This in person training is designed to assist people in understanding the signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect in children and other vulnerable populations. Specifically, physical, sexual, emotional abuse and neglect will be reviewed. Participants will be able to identify abuse types and symptoms. Data will be presented to emphasize the impact of abuse and neglect on the community and families. Domestic violence and the connections to abuse and neglect will be discussed. Review of tools used to identify domestic violence will be presented. Substance abuse in the homes and connections to abuse and neglect will be discussed. Participants will learn the ways to report abuse and the specifics to reporting. Legal requirements of reporting will be discussed and challenges in reporting. Participants will gain a deeper understanding as to what happens after an abuse call is made.
